Sure, it’s very exciting to travel all over the world to some of the most magical places on earth, discovering cultures that are so different to your own. It really gives you an amazing sense of self to see everything that is going on outside your four walls.
But sometimes, it’s nice to take advantage of your homeland. The place where you were born and the country where you were raised. It’s so easy to dismiss home as boring or too familiar, but, think about it, you’ll never visit everywhere you can in the country you were born, there are hundreds of cities, towns, and villages, just waiting to be explored.
I myself am from the UK, from a small town on the South Coast called Bournemouth. It’s got a very small-town vibe but there are plenty of beautiful places in and around the South and further up North.
Bournemouth
Bournemouth is the place I grew up, so I have mixed feelings about the town itself. It draws hundreds of thousands of tourists every year as one of the most beautiful seaside towns in the world, it has beautiful sand and (relatively) clear water. Plus there are so many things to do. As a University town, it has catered massively in recent years to the younger, trendier crowd – and it’s worked out great for the likes of me. Although not so much for the swarms of elderly people who inhabit the town and surrounding boroughs.
However, it’s definitely one of, if not the, best beach town in the UK and is perfect for getting a taste of a tropical climate in a place that’s very familiar.
Manchester
Manchester is indeed a vibrant city, despite its less-than-ideal weather, standing in stark contrast to the sunny beaches of Bournemouth. However, what it lacks in climate, it more than compensates for in personality and culture.
While not as sprawling as London, Manchester is still a sizable city, offering a plethora of activities and sights to explore. Everywhere you go, you’re likely to be met with a friendly smile. Enjoy some live music at unique venues, and don’t miss the chance to visit one of the football stadiums – just choose your team wisely, as that allegiance tends to stick with you forever.
Jersey
Now, if you’re planning Holidays from Manchester to Jersey, there are a few noteworthy things to consider for an enriching experience.
Among the top tourist attractions and landmarks on Jersey Island are the Elizabeth Castle, the Liberation Monument, the Jersey War Tunnels, and the Gorey Harbor. Each of these landmarks provides visitors with a glimpse into the island’s rich history, coupled with breathtaking views to explore and enjoy.
London
Ah, the capital of the UK. Famous for its bustling streets, rude people, and lots of pigeons.
But it’s not all bad! London can be an incredible place for soaking up art and culture while being in the buzzing hub of a metropolis. Every area of London is different and it’s a very exciting place to explore. There are so many things to do and the city is so big that every time you visit, it will feel like a completely different experience.
I’d advise a word of caution when visiting. As with all large cities, there is a high crime rate and some areas are just not tourist-friendly at all. Make sure you research the area that you’re visiting in depth before you book anywhere or attempt to explore.
