Norcross, Georgia, is a small city measuring 4.65 square miles and is 28 miles from Atlanta. Established in 1870, it became known as the summer resort city for Atlanta’s well-off residents in 1878. Bluesberry and Beer Festival
The Bluesberry and Beer Festival takes place every year. In 2018, the date is Saturday, June 16, at Betty Mauldin Park, starting in the early afternoon and going on until late evening. A talented lineup of blues musicians will play as you walk through the downtown area, visiting the various merchants or stopping by any of the restaurants that take part in this joyous time by offering customers special dishes, cocktails, or desserts. There’s no seating to pay for; just bring a blanket or chairs, grab some family and friends, and listen to the music.
Celebrate America with Red, White & BOOM!

Red, White & BOOM!, the annual celebration of Independence Day, happens July 3 at Lillian Webb Park. This pre-Fourth of July block party starts in the early afternoon and goes until late evening. Many food vendors will be on hand. While exploring downtown Norcross, visit the vast assortment of restaurants and shops. Dancing in the park will feature music provided by a DJ, or you can find a good place to put down a blanket and have an evening picnic before the fireworks display starts. If you want the celebration to continue, scope out the bars and dance clubs of Norcross’ nightlife.
Sparkle Holiday Celebration
The Sparkle Holiday Celebration is Norcross’ Christmas celebration that covers the entire month of December. The festivities start Dec. 1. and include pictures with Santa Claus, horse-drawn carriage rides, and lighting the city’s Christmas tree in Thrasher Park. Also included are holiday concerts and a historic tour of homes decorated in Christmas regalia. On Dec. 16, you can enjoy s’mores and cocoa at Discovery Garden. A Wildlife Tree will be decorated with raisin icicles and birdseed ornaments so the birds can partake in the festivities, too. It’s just like an old-fashioned Christmas Jubilee.
